This session will explore energy efficiency Code alternate solutions for multi-unit semis, townhomes and mid-rise from building officials, local industry and our work at BCIT’s Energy Efficiency Learning Centre for Zero Energy Buildings. The goal is to have design details for party walls and firewalls that have the synergies of construct-ability, affordability and are easier to achieve high levels of air-tightness. At the same time, the alternate solutions must provide fire/smoke protection and sound control.
